To further standardize the school’s network environment, ensure the security and effectiveness of information systems (websites), improve the efficiency of domain name resource utilization, and provide teachers and students with a safer and more reliable cyberspace environment, the IT Center plans to organize and conduct a security inspection of school domain names (domain names ending with wmu.edu.cn) in accordance with relevant policies, laws, regulations and institutional norms.

I. Self-Inspection by Departments (Schools)

The school’s wmu.edu.cn domain names have been in use since 2013. With a large number of registered domain names and complex operation statuses, some websites and systems associated with certain domain names have ceased to provide services. To gain a clear understanding of the current operation status and accurate inventory of the school’s domain names, all units are requested to conduct security inspections on their own departmental domain names, covering aspects such as the operation status of relevant domain names, service provision status, and security vulnerabilities.

II. Standardized Management of Domain Names

The IT Center is responsible for sorting out and verifying all domain names of the school, and checking the usage of each domain name. For domain names of services that are unreachable or belong to non-routine business systems, the IT Center will issue a Network Security Notice for each one individually. For the units that receive the notice, if they plan

to continue using the problematic domain names, they must contact the IT Center by November 30, 2025. Failure to provide feedback within the deadline will be deemed as invalid domain names. The IT Center will start cleaning up these invalid domain names from December 1, 2025, and the cleaned-up domain names will no longer be usable.

For domain names of non-routine business systems (e.g., domain names used only for data interface connection), please download and use the unified reminder page by yourselves (see Attachment 1 for details).

III. Other Matters

If a registered domain name needs to be changed or canceled, the using unit shall handle the relevant procedures online. Online handling method: Search for "Domain Name Service" on "DingTalk", fill in and submit the application. After being reviewed and approved by the domain name using unit, the IT Center will complete the relevant work within 3 working days.
