IT Center Supports WMU Undergraduate Education Evaluation

Recently, the university has fully launched its undergraduate education and teaching audit and evaluation. The IT Center has attached great importance to this initiative, developed advance plans, and engaged in the entire process—providing solid, reliable technical support for the evaluation. From the smooth delivery of the online evaluation kick-off meeting to the completion of in-depth classroom observations in the first phase, IT support has been integrated throughout, ensuring the evaluation operates efficiently and seamlessly.

01. Planning Ahead: Completing Campus-wide Inspection Preparations

Prior to the launch of the evaluation, the Information Technology Center had already initiated a comprehensive inspection of technical facilities. The support team conducted a systematic check of all lecture recording classrooms across the three campuses (Chashan, Xueyuan Road, and Binhai), ensuring their recording and live-streaming functions were fully operational. Meanwhile, the team carried out in-depth optimization and stability testing on the university’s campus-wide network infrastructure, guaranteeing full coverage, high bandwidth, and low latency for both wired and wireless networks. This laid the foundation for a smooth "information superhighway" to support the large-volume online data transmission and real-time access needs during the evaluation period.

2. Strengthening the Foundation: Ensuring a Smooth Start to the Evaluation

As the starting point of the evaluation, the smooth running of the online kick-off meeting for the undergraduate education and teaching audit and evaluation is critical. The Information Technology Center undertook the technical support for the meeting, assembled a team of senior technicians, and conducted multiple rounds of debugging and stress tests on the meeting equipment, network environment, and audio-visual transmission system—ensuring clear audio and video, stable transmission, and a seamless process throughout the online session.

03 Precise Efforts, Safeguarding the First Phase of Classroom Observation

As the evaluation enters the classroom observation phase of its first stage, IT support work faces more specific challenges. During this stage, 14 evaluation experts have issued a total of 33 classroom observation task sheets, covering 29 classrooms across the three campuses—with tasks that are both intensive and widely distributed.

Meticulous Pre-Observation Planning: After receiving the classroom observation task list, the support team immediately broke down the tasks, conducting final checks on multimedia equipment, audio systems, and network environments for each designated classroom in advance to eliminate any potential risks.

Full-Process Safeguarding During Classroom Observation: During the evaluation experts' classroom observations, the center arranged technical backbones at each campus for fixed-point duty and mobile patrols, and established an efficient front-end and back-end linkage mechanism. The Smart Teaching Department, Operations and Maintenance Service Department, and Network Information Department collaborated in real time to ensure that any sudden technical problems could be responded to and handled within minutes, fully guaranteeing the naturalness and authenticity of the classroom teaching process.

Post-Lesson Review and Optimization: After each day's work, the support team conducts a daily summary, reviews the progress with collaborating departments, and continuously optimizes the support plan to accumulate experience and improve efficiency for future work. Currently, the school's accreditation and evaluation work is still underway in an orderly and intensive manner. The Information Technology Center will continue to optimize the support plan, making more comprehensive preparations to provide technical support for the smooth implementation of subsequent evaluation work, and safeguard the high-quality development of the school's undergraduate education and teaching!

Currently, the university’s audit and evaluation efforts continue to progress in an intense yet highly organized manner. The Information Technology Center will keep refining its support plan, and with more meticulous preparations, provide technical backing for the seamless execution of subsequent evaluation tasks—ultimately upholding the high-quality development of the university’s undergraduate education and teaching.
